Hill, Betts & Nash LLP has job openings for a senior litigation attorney (5+ years) and a junior litigation attorney (1+ years).

Founded in 1898, Hill Betts & Nash LLP is one of the oldest admiralty law firms in the country with an internationally respected reputation. The firm has a full-service maritime practice and assists clients with personal injury, wrongful death, and property and casualty losses in addition to general commercial litigation. Clients include domestic and foreign owners, charterers, tankers, container lines, marine terminal facilities, ferry operators, and cruise lines among other marine and admiralty clients.

Senior Litigation Attorney (5+ years)

This position will handle all aspects of a case file, including pleadings, motions, depositions, hearings, trials, site inspections, client communications and summary reports.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years of litigation experience. Portable business is not required but a significant plus.

Maritime academy graduate or commercial sailing experience is a plus.

Excellent advocacy skills the ability to manage all aspects of litigation, including onsite investigations, extensive federal litigation experience, superior brief writing, and first chair trial experience.

Admitted in New York State and the ability to become admitted in New Jersey is required.

Ability to travel domestically and abroad.

Junior Litigation Attorney (1+ years)

This position will assist on all aspects of a case file, including pleadings, discovery, motions, site inspections, client communications, summary reports, depositions, hearings, conferences, mediations and trials.

Requirements:

Minimum 1-2+ years of litigation experience in Federal Courts.

Admitted in New York State and able to be admitted New Jersey.

Must have the ability to work in fast paced environment, manage multiple cases independently, and collaborate well with others. Prior experience handling client meetings, witness interviews, depositions, discovery, motion practice, court appearances, and oral arguments a must.

Ability to travel domestically and abroad.

Experience in maritime/liability defense a plus.

Maritime academy graduate or commercial sailing experience a plus.

Trial experience a plus.
