Lloyd’s List will hold its 2017 Americas Awards at a gala dinner in New York on May 25th at Cipriani’s Downtown. This will be the fourth Lloyd’s List Awards in the hemisphere, but the first time it has opened up beyond North America.

Lloyd’s List already produces shipping awards events in several countries and the main aim of these awards is to recognise excellence and achievement in an industry which is vital to and has such influence on the economy in the Americas.

Even in difficult trading times, it is important that that the hard work, expertise and results are acknowledged in the public arena; these awards are well received by the industry generally and of course in particular by the winners themselves.

We have an independent judging panel which comprises some of the leading personalities in the American maritime community and have expanded to encompass the larger realm. The judges act autonomously from the event organisers to ensure transparency in their decision making.
We are particularly pleased that the Director of the awards is Ms Carleen Lyden-Kluss who is already well-known to you. Carleen will be your main point of contact and will be assisted by the Lloyd’s List London team and the event producer, Peter Attwater, who also produces the Lloyd’s List Greek Shipping Awards, the largest event of its kind in the world.

A vital aspect of this event is the co-operation and participation of industry associations such as yours as it will be your members who will be named industry champions on a regional basis and recognised globally by Lloyd’s List. We hope that your association will embrace this event which we are sure will become one of the most important dates on the American maritime calendar.
