MLA Marine Insurance & General Average Committee: Fall 2023 Final Agenda

Dear Committee Members,

For those attending the MLA’s Fall 2023 Meeting in San Francisco, the final agenda for the joint meeting of the Marine Insurance & General Average Committee and the Salvage Committee is now available.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 19th, at 3:00 p.m. (PDT) at the offices of Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, located at 50 California Street, Suite 2750, in San Francisco.  Please bring photo identification for admittance.  The Committees sincerely appreciate the hospitality of our friends at Womble Bond Dickinson.

Newly added to the agenda is a video commentary by Hendrike Kühl, the Policy Director of the International Union of Marine Insurance, on his organization’s Best Practice & Recommendations for the Safe Carriage Of Electric Vehicles.  The commentary compliments the previously announced presentation by William Leshaeve and Adrian Scales of Brookes Bell on the risks of electric vehicle fires aboard vessels.

The meeting will not have remote/Zoom participation capability.

Lastly, the United States Supreme Court held oral argument earlier this week in Great Lakes Insurance SE v. Raiders Retreat Realty Co., which has been a topic of our prior meetings and amongst our members.  For convenience, a copy of the transcript of the oral argument has been posted to the Committee’s page of the MLA’s website.
