Stevedores, Marine Terminals and Vessel Services Committee
Dear Committee Members, As you are aware, the MLA Spring Conference is in New York next week. Our committee has two events planned, both of which will be on Thursday, May 5.
The Committee Business Meeting will be held from 10:30 to 12:00 at Clyde & Co. in the Chrysler Building. Mike Dehart from Freehill Hogan & Mahar will speak to us about the effects of the Ukraine/Russian conflict on terminal operations and vessel services. In addition, we will take time to consider as a committee topics, issues and projects we would like to pursue, either as part of our “maritime think tank” function, or for future meetings or CLE topics.
The second event will be a Supply Chain Symposium on the Seastreak II cruise vessel from 4:30 to 6:00. Our Committee invited Carriage of Goods Committee to join us in organizing and creating a panel to discuss the topic, “Our Supply Chain: How Did We Get Here and What Do We Do About It?” Panel members represent the interests of east coast terminals, west coast terminals, vessels rail, motor carriers, and BCO/warehousemen. Given the personalities of the panel members, it should be a lively and informative 90 minutes. The MLA Executive Board liked the idea so much it asked us to make it available to the entire MLA membership and scheduled it as the keynote presentation of the Conference. We hope you will join us for both of the events.
I look forward to seeing all of you next week. It will be great to see old friends and make new ones.
Best regards, Deb Waters
